Growing, Growing!

We sadly lost a lot of the pictures from the hospital and when Jaiden was brand new when we were doing some transferring of files.  But I do have a few.  These are mostly from his first few weeks…

Now, he’s six!  His birthday was on Friday and he was really excited to be six.  Last year, he wanted a Star Wars cake, and the one I did was not really a Star Wars cake, so he has been asking for a “Real” one this year.  He said he just wanted everything that had to do with Star Wars on it, but I (of course) didn’t really start looking at ideas in time to go out and get everything I might need.  So, the night before, we decided to to an R2-D2 cake.  Carlos had the day off, so he was able to help me with some of it and help hold down the fort while I worked on it.  We wanted to use fondant, but the Wilton stuff tastes horrible and the local cake store only had orange.  I haven’t made marshmallow fondant before and didn’t want to try for the first time that day.  So, it’s just with buttercream icing, but I think it still worked okay.  I finally finished just before we had his cake and ice cream, so it was really sad to cut into it!

 

Afterwards, I asked him if he liked it. He said yes, but asked why I didn’t just put lots of Star Wars things on it! Oh well!

More cousin photos!

We tried to get a family picture.  This was the 9th try and about the best one!

This was the inside of the cake.  I used three colors of cake batter and the swirled in a cool way while baking!

He got some clothes which he badly needed because he’s the oldest and has outgrown everything!  He also got a fun McQueen car, a wallet, some Play-Doh and a Star Wars Lego set.  I think it was a fun day for him!  We love you Jaiden!

Once again, I’m having a hard time with the video, surprise, surprise!  I’ll get it up when I can get it fixed!

Zach’s Birthday

I still can’t believe that Zachy is three (although it’s not too hard, based on the frequency of tantrums…!)

He is getting to be SO strong and is learning a lot of new things.  I’ll have to dedicate an entire post to that.  But, quickly, here are some pictures from his birthday.

This is what I started working on when I got up at 4:15 that morning.  I had really wanted to make a banner that we could use for everyone’s birthday, and since I was awake and hadn’t had a chance, I started it then.  I think it turned out cute.  It says “Feliz Dia”, or Happy Day, in Spanish and the last circle is blank where I can write in the age or whatever with a dry erase marker.

This was my attempt at a circus tent and clowns.  He seemed to like it and wasn’t terrified like he was last year.

He really liked his lion “pillow pet” (not really, but we got it because he really likes to growl like a lion.  This one even growls and makes noise.  He loved it.  This photo is blurry, but it shows him really growling.  He was also really excited about his card that came from Grandma and Grandpa.

Later, we had cake and ice cream.  I’m having trouble posting the video, but when I do, just ignore the singing at the beginning!  It’s kind of long, but is pretty funny!  We love the different faces that Zach makes, he’s always making us laugh and it makes it hard to discipline him when he starts making faces when he knows he’s in trouble!

Cousins!  Of course, there isn’t one where they’re all looking!

I’ll try and post the video later.  I also need to post Jaiden’s birthday, which was yesterday!  He’s six now!  Crazy!

My Baby……Isn’t a Baby!

I’m so tired, I got up at 4:15 when Carlos was getting ready for work and stayed up trying to get everything done.  I couldn’t sleep anyway, thinking about getting stuff done.  It’s been a pretty productive day, except for the huge pile of boys clothes on my bed that need to be folded. 

I wanted to make a banner for birthdays, one that would last a few years, so I started working on it first thing and then later took it in to get it laminated. I also baked Zach’s cake early.  I had over four hours to myself before the kids got up!  I really need to get up early every morning, even if it’s not quite 4:15!  Since Carlos started his new shift, I no longer have hours alone at night to blog and do whatever, so that’s why I’ve been amiss in my blogging.

So, on to the title of the post…

Zachary turned 3 today!  He’s been really ornery every time we sing to him, I hope to record it when we have cake in a little while.  I’ll have to post today’s pictures later, but this was a big day for us three years ago.  The apprehension was high, I was walking around the stupid surgery waiting area hooked up to IV’s because I couldn’t stay in my bed because I had so much anxiety about what was to come.  We really didn’t know what to expect.  And though we still don’t know what to expect about many things, we have been so blessed to have Zach in our lives!  He gives the tightest hugs and best kisses!  Here are some pictures from his hospital time:

March for Babies

The March for Babies was on Saturday, April 30th and I would like to thank everyone who donated to our team.  We raised $615 and our goal was $500.  So, thank you, thank you!

We had planned for about 500 people to come to the walk based on people already registered.  Well, of course, it snowed that weekend and that morning started out pretty cold!  So, there were only about 250 people including volunteers.  But we still had a great time!

Because I’m on the committee, I had to be there by 7:00 a.m. to help set up.  I should have brought extra socks and shoes because by the time we were done, my feet were wet and freezing and then the rest of me got really cold!  I still hadn’t warmed up later that day!

Also, thank you to all of the volunteers who came and helped make it such a great event!  We really appreciate everyone’s help!  And thank you to all of our food donors!  It was all delicious!

Bob Evans from Fox 13 News was the emcee for the event and did a great job.

Mom, Amber and I sang the National Anthem and we think it went pretty well. 

Two of the guys from the group, “Mad Diving Barons” provided the music and I really enjoyed their music.  It’s always fun to have music at events.

The amazing face painting lady who always comes was there.  I can’t remember her name.  What’s even more amazing is that this last year she was affected by something that made her loose her eyesight and she is now legally blind.  Sadly, she is going to be moving out of state and won’t be here next year.  The kids always love her.  Jaiden and Austin didn’t want one this year but I think they were freezing and just overall ornery!

           

                                 

  

Zach kept pointing to the board with pictures on it to the one he wanted and until I pointed to the right one, he kept saying “no!”  And then he said, “yes, that one!”  He loved it!

This juggler also came at the end and she was really fun to watch.

                                    

This balloon artist always comes to and he is also amazing.  The night before, Jaiden (who had remembered him all by himself) told me that he wanted a sword and a pirate’s hat.  Well, he got a sword and maybe would have had a sword if there’d been time.  Austin got…..for real….a Spiderman!   Oh, and his “glasses” are actually the handle of the sword that he attaches to the blade when it’s finished.

                                 

As part of the opening ceremony, an ROTC group from UVU came for the flag ceremony.  It was nice to have them there.  They held the flag while we sang and then marched off and took it with them.

Once the walk got started, we ended up at the VERY end because we were waiting for the boys to get their balloons…

There were a bunch of drawings for prizes at the end and lots of people won a lot of great things. 

We usually get family team pictures and there was even a photographer there to take them, but I know that our family at least didn’t get one.  It was too cold and everyone had to leave at different times and it just didn’t happen. 

But thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who came and supported us this day and to those who made donations to our family team.  We are glad to support this good cause!
